Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how FJR (“FJR”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use the FJR iOS app and related websites (including fjr.app).
FJR helps you wake for Fajr with location-based scheduling and dismiss missions. We aim to collect only what is needed to run that product.
1. Information we process
On your device
- Location. Used to calculate prayer times and schedule the next wake. Coordinates are processed on-device for that purpose and are not required to be uploaded for basic scheduling.
- App preferences. Settings such as wake offset, calculation method, mission choice, sealed niyyah text, streaks, and similar preferences may be stored locally (for example via on-device storage).
Sent off your device
- Mission photos. If you use a photo-based dismiss mission, the image (or a derived payload) is sent to our backend so a vision model can return pass/fail. Photos are used only to verify the mission — not for advertising or training our own marketing models.
- Purchase / subscription data. Apple processes payment. We use RevenueCat to read subscription status (active, expired, trial, restore) so the app can unlock or gate scheduling features.
- Technical request data. When the app calls our servers, standard technical data may be processed (for example IP address, timestamps, device/app version as provided by the OS or SDK) to deliver the response, secure the service, and debug failures.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
- We do not require a social login to use core Fajr scheduling today.
2. How we use information
- App functionality — prayer times, alarms, missions, streaks, entitlements
- Subscriptions — unlock premium access, restore purchases, prevent abuse
- Security & reliability — fraud/abuse prevention, uptime, fixing bugs
- Legal compliance — where required by law or Apple/platform rules
3. Processors & third parties
We use service providers (“processors”) who only process data on our instructions:
- Apple Inc. — App Store distribution, In-App Purchases, system permissions
- RevenueCat, Inc. — subscription status and purchase history for entitlements
- Supabase — backend hosting for mission verification requests
- Google (Gemini API) — vision verification of mission photos when that path is enabled
- Vercel — hosting for fjr.app (support / privacy / terms pages)
Each provider has its own privacy policy. Payment card data is handled by Apple; we do not receive your full card number.
4. Retention
- Mission photos: processed to produce a verification result. We do not keep photo libraries of users. Transient processing artifacts may exist briefly for delivery, security, and abuse prevention, then are deleted or rotated in the ordinary course of operations.
- Subscription records: retained as needed to provide the subscription, handle restores, accounting, and disputes (typically aligned with RevenueCat/Apple records).
- Local preferences: remain on your device until you delete the app or clear them.
5. International transfers
We operate from Egypt. Our processors may process data in the United States and other countries (for example Apple, RevenueCat, Supabase, Google, Vercel). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards provided by those vendors (such as standard contractual clauses) and platform terms.
6. Your choices & rights
- Permissions: you can revoke Location or Camera in iOS Settings (some features will stop working).
- Subscriptions: cancel or manage in iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Delete local data: delete the app to remove on-device preferences and local history.
- Access / correction / deletion: email us (below) to request access to personal data we hold, correction, or deletion of server-side data we control, subject to legal retention needs (for example purchase records).
- EEA/UK users: you may also have rights to restrict processing, object to certain processing, and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights.
- California users: we do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are commonly used for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may request know/delete rights via the contact below.
7. Children
FJR is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the applicable digital-consent age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures appropriate to an indie app (HTTPS for network requests, limited access to backend keys, and processor security practices). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the product changes. We will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may also be noted in an app update or on fjr.app.
